- "I came across this DVD while at a poker trade show in Las Vegas. I already own How to Beat the Big Boys and thought I would check this one out. What a great way to learn the game. As with her first release, Annie is an absolute genius at explainging the game of poker. This is the only Poker DVD that I've seen that talks about Hold Em Basics in an interesting way. I have been playing for a long time and even picked up some great tips. I recomend this DVD to anyone who wants to learn how to play hold em."
- "A perfect guide for beginning and intermediate Texas Hold'em enthusiasts. A. Duke covers the basics of strategy and importance of thinking rationally when engaging the various betting positions, hands, flops and pot sizes. She also explains the relationship of win expectation when gambling to make a particular hand. A definitely recommended video to play successful poker."
- "I am truly a beginner, and this DVD was exactly what I needed. Annie Duke has a great demeanor, and she clearly explains the basics of Texas Hold'em in a manner that shows why this game is so popular. She has fun with her topic, clearly explains the basics, and gets into a fair amount of strategy. She discusses things like why one should or should not bet on a given hand--especially depending on their position at the table. She also discusses etiquette, and goes into great detail on a wide variety of "what ifs" that can take place during a game."

Excerpts from the reviews -
- "With the huge number of new products hitting the market and a couple of marginal offerings from other name players I was not sure what to expect... Wow! This DVD is very good and has more advanced material than "any" other DVD currently on the market. I was blown away by the amount and specific kind of material here. Her section on reading and profiling players is phenomenal, beyond anything I have read or seen elsewhere. The amount of information and the detail of this section is by itself worth much more than the cost of the DVD."
- "You have Annie Duke sharing her thoughts on how to take care of business at the poker table. It might not be the most entertaining DVD you ever buy, but there is some good information on the DVD. Definitely worth the price to have a pro player give up 90 minutes of their time. If you only play poker online, you can skip this one and wait for her online poker DVD. It should be a better choice. If you play some live poker, I think you'll definitely want to know the information on this DVD. It could really make you more dangerous at the tables."
- "I was surprised how good and entertaining her book was, as it did a nice job of combining poker tips with her life story, but with this DVD, Annie has put herself at the top of the poker instructional DVD list. Since it has only been out for a little while, I don't think alot of players know about it just yet. But that won't last long."
- World Poker Tour - Season Two (2003)
11 five-star reviews (and one four-star). This DVD set is a well-deserved bestseller among poker DVDs. Yes it's entertainment, it's a TV show, but keep your eyes and ears open as you watch and you'll be amazed how much you can learn from the pros! From the description -
"TV's Hottest Poker Show! World Poker Tour created a televised sports sensation and fueled the current poker explosion. An estimated 60 million people in the U.S. now play and poker’s popularity continues to skyrocket.
Bringing the heat to DVD, World Poker Tour Season Two is an eight-DVD set stacked with cunning poker stars, fierce competition and record-breaking prize pools. Tournaments are set in some of the world’s most glamorous locations. With millions at stake, each of the 14 episodes offers skilled card playing and action on the felt. The box set also features an entire disc filled with bonus material."
Excerpts from the reviews -
- "Like most of us who enjoy poker, if it is on, I am watching. Season 2 of the World Poker Tour was the most exciting, as prize pools escalated to record numbers. You get all of the exciting tournaments to watch anytime you like. I have watched all of the DVDs over a dozen times and they are still fun to watch. My favorite BONUS in this DVD set is the added commentary in 4 of the tournaments, 2 with Daniel Negreanu and Erick Lindgren and 2 with Antonio "the magician" Esfandiari and Phil "the unabomber" Laak. The insights of these 4 professionals are worth the price of the entire set."
- "Being an amateur player, I find this set essential. I, personally, enjoy studying each player, hand by hand, call by call, bet by bet. Watching the professionals play is something that is absolutely essential for improving play."
- "For a real student of the game, this and other collections are a must. Play them through and enjoy. Then play them again and listen to Sexton's insightful commentary. Then play them through again and analyze each hand. How would you play each hand? Play again and note the psychology in play. Look for the bluffs, tells, and reverse psychology. This is a good month's worth of study if you do it right. Study. Learn."
- Final Table Poker with Phil Gordon
Only 5 five-star reviews (out of 9) but this is a hidden gem if you want to learn advanced poker strategy. You'll find yourself going back to it over and over again and learning something new each time. From the description -
"Do you have what it takes to play at the final table? Have you ever watched a televised poker tournament and wondered what the players were thinking? Why they made a certain play? Why they bluffed? If so this is the perfect video for you. FINAL TABLE POKER brings you inside the mind of Poker Pro, Phil Gordon. Listen in on Phil's every thought as he plays at the final table of a high stakes No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament. Learn Phil's secrets on pot odds, dominated hands, selective aggression, bluffing, tells and much, much more!"
Excerpts from the reviews -
- "There's a lot of poker tournament experience, some of it bitter, behind the hands and the commentary on this DVD. Gordon basically mocks up a big-money final table, with Chris Ferguson and some lesser-known players, and talks us through every decision of the final table. There's a refresher on calculating outs and card odds, pot odds, and implied odds (the only surprise being the omission of Implied Tilt Odds, but the concept is touched on), and during the course of the commentary Phil goes far beyond those basics, talking about how to develop an understanding of your opponents, who to attack and who to retreat from, and so on."
- "Today's hold 'em table is populated by many a crafty player. Gordon's instruction helps players survive as they work to identify and adopt a personal style (and running interior monologue) that adheres to the rules convincingly enough to permit the deployment of effective bluffing tactics. Gordon is exactly the kind of person you want as a teacher...and exactly the kind of person you don't want at your final table."
- "This really is a fantastic DVD for both seasoned Hold Em players and those new to the game. Among the piles and piles of dull, boring, and uninformative poker DVDs this video is leaps and bounds above the competition"
- Masters of Poker Presents: Annie Duke's Conquering Online Poker (2005)
No five-star ratings, and mixed reviews for this DVD ("too much filler, not enough content" could be the summary). But this is the best of the poker DVDs aimed solely at the online poker player, taking you through all the steps right from setting up your first online poker account. From the description -
"Let WSOP Tournament of Champions winner Annie Duke shows you how to win big at poker from the comfort of your own home! In this latest edition of her smash DVD series, World Champion poker player, Annie Duke will teach you everything you need to Conquer Online Poker! All you need is this incredible DVD and online access to start becoming a cyber-winner immediately!"
Excerpts from the reviews -
- "It's very tough to be unbiased after watching her excellent advanced DVD; it delivered more than I had expected and I was hoping to hit another jackpot with this one. Unfortunately it is not as good as the advanced DVD. That said, this is an acceptable DVD for playing online. It covers the expected basics like how to set up an account and play for "play" money until you become familiar with the software and the site. She goes through live cash play as well as several varieties of tournament play- multi table tournaments, satellites and the Sit and Go's or SNG's as well as online tells and betting patterns. What she covers is good but because I have been playing a long time I found very little in the way of "secrets" or "conquering" online play."
- "Annie Duke is the best poker teacher there is. Her online game advice is no different. She gives specific advice about how to use and play each differnet type of online holdem game. She explains why you must play online tournaments in a completely different syle from the online cash games. Rather than give complicated math, she explains in simple language the mathmatical concepts that require the radically different styles of play for online cash games and online tournaments."
- "Annie Duke is the best femail poker player today, so I thougt I might get some nice ideas from this DVD about Online poker and maybe I could learn something new. I was very disapointed about it, it is very basic, and all this DVD is about seem to be advertisment for the poker site Ultimate Bet, did I learn something useful? No."
